The Estate
Situated on 400 acres at the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges and along 2km of the original Cobb and Co Carriage route, the Wallace family Estate is quite simply beautiful. From gently sloping, pristine landscapes to hills with views to Mt Buller, Strathbogie Ranges Estate is testament to thoughtful and respectful land use.
The Wallace family established the Estate 30 years ago. During this time they have developed their interest in diverse farming. They now run a mob of fine merino sheep which is small enough in size to be fully supported by the farm. Wet areas have been planted with a Blackwood forest and Chestnut trees provide a treat on cool Autumn evenings. A small vineyard with mainly Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio was established 9 years ago alongside the olive grove which has a current planting of 4000 trees.
Over the years species of birdlife have returned. The farm has become home territory for a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles and they can be seen to soar for hours above the forested boundary of the farm and the endangered South-eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo has been sighted amongst the creek Blackwoods and Eucalypts. The Estate aims to maintain this balance of coexistence as it provides a sign of not only the health of the land but of the quality of what is produced from the land.
